DASF, For the Love of Animals.

Denton Animal Support Foundation (DASF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to save more Denton area animals. We accomplish this by focusing on two major components, the City of Denton Animal Shelter and the Denton community. The financial support we receive from North Texas Giving Day helps provide adoption subsidies to the shelter, emergency veterinary care, FREE rabies vaccines for low income households, discounted microchips, emergency pet food, heartworm treatment vouchers for shelter pets and other resources to help us save pets who have nowhere else to turn. We are their safety net. But we can’t do it alone.
Since 2010, North Texas Giving Day has been our largest annual fundraiser. Financial support received from NTxGD provides crucial funds used to support the shelter and community. Thanks to the generosity from donors during last years NTxGD, DASF was able to provide a grant for discounted spay and neuter services for Denton County residents as well as provide grants to the Denton Animal Shelter for supplies and equipment - such as permanent shade coverings for the dog play yards to keep them cool. DASF was also able to expand our emergency pet food program, which provides the Denton Animal Shelter with gift cards to be given to community members in need of assistance - no questions asked, to the Lake Dallas Animal Shelter.
We aim to give shelter animals in our community more than a home, we aim to give them a second chance for a better life. Thanks to North Texas Giving Day, we are able to continuously provide Adoption Subsidy Grants to the Denton Animal Shelter throughout the year. By lowering adoption fees for harder to place pets, we are connecting an animal with someone who will love them forever. We are creating a relationship that will enrich both lives in countless ways. A single animal has the power to spread joy, to enable people, and in turn, create a more loving community.

Kiara Hunter is the part time Office Manager, and sole employee of, the Denton Animal Support Foundation (DASF) and is primarily responsible for all donor relations and general office management. Since joining DASF in 2017, her role has continued to grow with the organization’s evolving strategy and needs. She implements the organization’s marketing communications strategies, campaigns, events, and partnerships that drive the success and growth of DASF. Prior to DASF, Kiara spent eleven years as a veterinary technician as well as an active member in the Denton non-profit sector. Kiara is a full time student and will be attending the University of North Texas this spring to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management as well as her Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Leadership Studies.
