COMMUNITY GRANTS

DASF volunteer gives presentation at Denton library.

Community Grants – DASF seeks to support animal welfare initiatives in the community that address pet wellness and homelessness. Grants have been given to Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP)s Low-Cost Clinics to subsidize spay/neuter services for Denton County Residents – almost 500 pets have been served. DASF also granted funds to purchase Kevlar Vests for K-9 dogs at the Denton County Sheriff’s Department. Additionally, DASF has provided funding to local rescue groups handling the care of Denton dogs seized from hoarders.

Paws & Stripes - In partnership with the Denton County Veterans Service Office, DASF provides assistance to pets of veterans and first responders. DASF believes the enduring bond humans share with animals has the power to reduce suffering, mitigate loneliness, improve mental well-being and bridge the gap between ourselves and others. For our veterans, these benefits are especially important to help ease the transition into civilian life. Serving these local heroes is a priority for DASF. Whether it’s their family dog, emotional support animal or service animal, DASF is dedicated to ensure these pets get the veterinary care they need.

Pets of the Homeless - Denton Animal Support Foundation believes that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, has the right to the joy of having a companion animal. We know the unconditional love and security a pet can bring to a person’s life and we believe every pet deserves not to be hungry or suffer from an illness or injury. If you are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, and need help caring for your pet, we can help. We are working with Giving Hope/Grace Like Rain, Denton Animal Services, the City of Denton Police and the City of Denton Homeless Programs Coordinator, to ensure that pets and people stay together and are provided for.

“Evidence shows that animal companionship is fortifying and contributes to the emotional well-being of people experiencing homelessness, including encouraging owners to obtain sobriety, leave abusive relationships, and avoid incarceration.” - National Alliance to End Homelessness
